OLD BUSINESS:

LITERARY NEWS:

ADAM SEDIA mentioned that he will have three of his poems published in the October issue of the Hoosier Boys Journal.

READINGS:

DAVID WILGUS continued with four pages of his novel, The Joshua Henderson Story. In this part of the novel Chad is confronted by two police officers.  He was asked of his whereabouts several night before when the Patson family was terrorized by the Ku Klux Klan.  His false statement, saying he had gone bowling, led him into deeper trouble. 

PAUL MULLIGAN read four pages of his newest novel, Be Great – Now Die.  After newlyweds, Carl and Darlene, decided to move in across the street from her parents, they did not envision all the problems they would encounter.  The first problem, Darlene’s younger brother Eddie, sent her into a rage that threatened to end their marriage.

ADAM SEDIA read his eight stanza, Sixaim poem.  This remarkable poem, entitled “Insomnia,” tells of the problems an insomniac encounters when trying to sleep.  The poem ends with the frustrated statement, “that long-desired fatigue might overwhelm and close my weary, bloodshot stare.”

GEORGE MIGA read two pages of a close friend’s story entitled, “Camp Keokuk.”  The author, Tim Connor, told the fictional story of Tom, a Chicago police officer, receiving a phone call from his mother telling him that his nephew had been shot.  After rushing to the hospital, he found that his nephew had just died from the gunshot administered by a Chicago gang.  This part of the story ended with Tom and some of his Marine friends deciding to meet and discuss how they might end this violence.

SHARON BUCKMAN continued with three pages of her sequel, “Beyond the Canopy.”  In this part of the story Harold discovers that the “cousin” his father has been hiding in their fruit cellar has just died.  In reality, the cousin is really a close friend of his father who is being sought for the kidnapping and rape of a young girl.  The father is now presented with the dilemma of trying to dispose of the body.
